May 09, 2009, the "Stay on Course for Good Health" men's free golf tournament. The target audience for this event is African American men, ages 35 to 55. Thirty men registered and 27 men attended the tournament. Prostate and colorectal cancer screening was discussed along with the importance of staying active and physically fit. CEED information was also discussed and distributed. We also provided the men with baseball caps, golf towels, bottled water, sun-screen and trailmix for the course. A "Test Your Knowledge about Men's Health" was given to the men after the completion of the tournament. There were 7 questions, 11% got 2 wrong, 16% got 3 wrong, 28% got 4 wrong and 16% got 6 wrong. The outcome of the tests show that an increase effort is needed to educate the higher risk African American male group on important health issues that effect their lives. Out the six teams, the first, second and third place teams won gift cards to Dick's Sporting Goods to encourage them to encourage them in physical fitness.
